Classification
The tarantula, scientifically know as Aphonopelma chalcodes, is actually harmless to humans. The only painful thing possible to happen is to get bit. The bite will cause no further damage other than possibly some redness and swelling. If more serious symptoms like heavy breathing, rapid heart rates or a major skin rash appears, this is the result of an allergic reaction, it has nothing to do with the venom its self.
The domain of the tarantula is eukaryotic. This can range for species like ants all the way to elephants. The tarantula is part of the Animalia kingdom and the Arthropoda phylum. The Animalia kingdom contains all multicellular eukaryotes, ranging from killer whales to cats. An Arthropoda phylum is anything with six or more legs connected or joined, including ants and butterflies. Its class is Arachnida, these are species with four legs or more with two appendages attached to their head. Scorpions and ticks are examples of Arachnidas. Tarantula's order is named as Araneae, Araneaes are species with eight legs and two fangs filled with venom, the trapdoor spider and flower spider are both examples. It belongs to the Theraphosidae family, which is big hairy legged spiders with the capability to bite you but ultimately do no harm, these would include species like the Texas Brown Tarantula and The Australian Redback Tarantula. The tarantula's genus is Aphonopelma. Aphonopelma armada and the Ummidia spider are both in the same genus. The Western desert tarantula is part of the Aphonopelma chalcodes species. The Arizona Blond Tarantula and the Mexican Blonde Tarantula are also in this species.
Similarities and Differences with Similar Species
The Black Widow and The Western Desert Tarantula:
Since both spiders are part of the Theraphosidae family, they both have eight leg and two fangs, but things get more complex than that. The Black Widow is much more dangerous than a tarantula, however tarantulas are much bigger in size. A black widow would be compared to the size of a paper clip and a tarantula can get as big as a teenagers palm. Unlike a tarantula bite, Black Widow bites will harm you. In fact, if medical attention is not followed directly after you have been bit, the situation could be fatal. Black Widows are said to be one of the most poisonous spiders in existence. A female Black Widow is about twice the size of the males, with a more shiny looking appearance. After a Black Widow has mated with another Black widow, the female tends to kill the male right afterwards. Western Desert Tarantula's on the other hand look the exact same from females to males. But just like the Black Widow the females tend to live longer. The female tarantula's don't eat the males, but once they mate the males life expectancy is only about three more months, when the females still has an average of twenty five years left to survive. Both spiders tend to eat the same things, however tarantula's can feed upon a bigger versions of the prey. Prey included species like grasshoppers, beetles and caterpillars. Tarantula's also consume small lizards, spiders and scorpions, which the Black Widow can't eat.

Phoicidae (daddy long leg) and The Western Desert Tarantula:
Phoicidae and the Western Desert Tarantula are both in the same order, Araneae. Each spider has eight legs and two fangs. Phoicidae's can bite humans even though a commonly known myth states that they cannot bite. Just like a tarantula, the bites from this spider can't do us any harm. No damage is done because not enough venom can be injected into our bodies from the Phoicidae's small fangs. As a safety ability "daddy longlegs" are able to lose a leg and grow it back. Male Phoicidae's have smaller bodies than the females but they also have slightly longer legs.
Unlike tarantula's, Phocidae's can eat small plants, fungi and dead organisms.
